Detailed Itinerary

    1. AM

Ride on the "Setouchi Marine View" train from Hiroshima station at 10:03

“Setouchi Marine View” is a train running along the Seto Inland Sea on the JR Kure Line. The cars have round windows, comfortable sofas among the reserved seats, and a compass and map inside, making you feel as if you were inside the cabin of a ship. The interior of the train has a resort-like feel. Enjoy the beautiful views of the many islands in the Seto Inland Sea!

    2. Arrive at Mihara station by the train at 12:27

A chartered taxi will be waiting for you at the station. You wil visit Onomichi city by the taxi. One of the most unique attractions of Onomichi is the Shimanami Kaido. The route, which passes across bridges and islands of the Seto Inland Sea, is the only land connection between Japan's main island of Honshu and Shikoku that is traversable by cyclists and pedestrians. Along the way there are two particular attractions of interest to visitors: Senkoji temple, the Hirayama Museum and the unique Kosanji Temple.

    3. Afternoon

The taxi will next take you to Kosanji temple and museum in Shimanami Kaido

The buddhist priest Kozo spent more than 80 years, beginning in 1936, to build this temple as a dedication to his deceased mother. Kosanji uses different kinds of architecture styles including a full-scale replica of the famous gate in Nikko, and shows the history of Japanese Buddhist architecture.

    4. You will visit Kirosan observation deck by taxi.

The observatory park is located at the top of Mt. Kiro at the southernmost point of Oshima Island. The view from here is known as the most spectacular on the Shimanami Kaido. On fine days the view extends as far as Mt. Ishizuchi, the highest mountain in western Japan. In the evenings, views of the sunset and the illuminated Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge are exceptional.

    5. Evening

You will end your journey in Imabari cit, Ehime.

Tips for choosing Private Charter Tours in Japan

In Japan, only “Green Label Vehicles” are legally acceptable for tour purpose and will be covered by passenger insurance. Besides, the driver of “Green Label Vehicle” must hold Class 2 license which is required when operating a commercial passenger-carrying vehicle such as a taxi or bus. Driver must be 21 years of age or older and have at least three years of experience driving under a Class 1 license. However, nowadays there are many services that provide charter tours at lower price by using “White Label Vehicles”, which by law are only allowed for private use only. In the event of a traffic accident, passengers on these illegal vehicles will not be covered by insurance. Therefore, for the sake of safety, we strongly recommend that visitors should choose a legal charter service.

Japan Tourism's charter service only provides green label vehicles and professional drivers at a reasonable price. Please feel free to contact us should you require any further information.
